Photography Catalog

We launched a new website for a Seattle area architectural photographer. The catalog features full screen, scaling images and a thumbnail navigation gallery. The site has a custom built CMS (Content Management System) and incorporates a WordPress blog. The catalog gallery utilizes a jQuery based slideshow called Galleria. The portfolio interface was customized to match the client’s requirements.

Website Catalog Client

Decorative Materials wanted a WordPress catalog site to showcase their products. For their website catalog we utilized WooCommerce, a powerful online store that integrates with the WordPress platform. While this particular website client does not sell their products online, they do want the ability for clients to add product “Favorites” to a cart that they may access later. Additionally, when a customer selects products, our client receives an email that details the particular products the client added to their list. This keeps our client apprised of the hottest styles and tile options.

Website Catalog Development

The client needed a custom product import process developed to ensure that loading hundreds of products at a time would be as efficient as possible. Because the client felt comfortable with MS Excel, we created an upload process that allows them to provide their product specifications and details in a spreadsheet format, CSV file type. We then use a custom import routine to upload the product information and images into the WordPress / WooCommerce database.

Website Catalog Design

Of utmost importance to this client was clean, functional design. The style of this catalog design puts the emphasis on the product imagery. Thumbnail galleries are organized by product Categories. Products are also associated with “tags” that make searching for very specific keywords or search terms possible. The product tags appear in a “tag cloud” on each product page, allowing customers to see the kinds of words they might consider when searching the product catalog. The Inspiration Gallery portion of their website utilizes a jQuery based “quicksand” filter.

The look of their website is unique, because their theme is unique to them. We designed this custom WordPress theme to match their specific layout and aesthetic requirements. The ultimate goal of this website catalog was to showcase the products in a clean, organized and responsive way.
